The only news I hear about the Blue Streak is that they hope for a late 2010 opening. Does anyone know what is going on now? What repairs are needed? Are they working on it now? I heard that small crowds were there over last weekend with great weather. Sure, without the Blue Streak there wont be large crowds. This should be super top priority to get the Blue Streak running ASAP before anything else. I am puzzled.

There is a substantial amount of work needed to bring it back to operating condition. Remember--it sat for the 2007 & 2008 seasons with no maintenance, and due to a lack of funds, it received only the minimum maintenance for the 2006 and prior years.

The planning for the restoration work has begun, but it will take time and money.

Just be glad that it's still standing and that the park has reopened, and let's look forward to riding it next year!

I wanted to post a link but they changed the website.

But if anyone should be bragging it should the guy who rode it constantly in 2006. How many laps did he have? That guy was crazy, and not for riding the blue streak all day. I was able to do that easily during the blue streak challenge. But when the blue streak was down because lightning blew the motor out I saw him ride the round-up all day with out getting off. I can barely ride circle rides once without getting queezey. Does anyone else remember this guy? I think he was a browns fan?

And mike your math doesnt add up. You need 200 rides to reach 1000, and then you need 400 to reach 3000. Last time I checked 800+400=1200??

his name was Fred
he rode the Blue Streak 1,10 times I think I am not sure since the parks website has changed someone would have to ask the ride oops for the Blue Streak in 2006 to see how many times he rode it he held records on Geagua Lakes Rotor which was his favorite ride until it was taken out so he went to Conneaut Lake Park in 2006 to ride the Blue Streak

Fred is a good guy. He started going to CLP back in 2006. He was geauga lake's famed Rotor man. Once the Rotor was taken out he started riding the Haybalor at SFWoA. Once Cedar Fair took over they would not allow him to stay on the Haybalor and he had to get off and get back on. Well then he moved on to the Ferry Boats because he was able to stay on that all day. After GL got rid of the Ferry boats Fred gave up on GLP and started going to Conneaut Lake Park and then they closed the season after so Fred hasn't had the greatest of luck lately everytime he starts to like something he is either not allowed to ride it over and over or it closes. But luckily CLP is back!

According to someone on Theme Park Review, there was going to be a Blue Streak inspection this Thursday to determine if the coaster could operate by Labour Day weekend 2009. Does anyone know if this inspection actually happened?

http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=51054
(Scroll down to the end of the TR)

If it is in fact true, it would be great news! But I thought Labour Day was traditionally the closing weekend for the park, and it would be silly to open the coaster for just the last three days of the season.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this earlier ... Confused

I think the original plan was to remain open on weekends from Labor Day to Pumpkinfest...IF, (really big if), IF they get the Blue Streak going, it will be a real shot in the arm, and even if it is late in the year, it will be ready to go next year...

I can tell you my neighbors say they have seen a crew of amish workers climbing on the Blue Streak which is a very good sign rather than just waiting until next year to tackel it. So they are trying!!

What a way to end the summer season and position itself for next year!!
