|
|
| Quote: | Conneaut Lake Park Board of Trustees is seeking proposals to lease all or part of the currently-closed 115-year-old amusement park. Chairman Jack Moyers said developers interested can visit www.clp-rfp.com for details. In order to get the details, however, it will cost you $100.
Deadline to submit proposals is Nov. 30.
The board has sent notice to a number of potential developers.
“They are trying to control the process,” said Crawford County planner Jack Lynch of making those interested in submitting proposals pay for the information. |

I don't understand why they didn't start this a long time ago. _________________ myself, AKA andy_e219

| But, will this be a good thing for CLP? How well did this go when they leased the park back in the 90's? |

I'd say this is better than the park sitting idle with the status quo. I think the leases bring the possibility of improved management and the money needed to operate, two things the current setup hasn't allowed. The lease holders would have to be chosen carefully so they don't end up with another Gary Harris. But I don't see any other good options.
There is the chance that certain aspects may change for the worse from a historical/traditional perspective but other aspects may improve. Without taking any chances or making changes, this park is doomed because the most recent operations have not worked. I think the most important thing is to learn from past mistakes and do not repeat them this time around. _________________ --Tim |

| Many of you may also be reading Geauga Lake's forum, too. Cedar Fair is currently selling now-defunct Geauga Lake's classic Big Dipper coaster for only $50k. I know it's not probable that CLP could purchase this classic, but it certainly would bring in a lot of attention and more ticket sales to the park. CLP is the perfect home for any classic ride. |

You could either put it in the free act lawn where the stupid toboggan is, how about where the wild mouse was!!!! I pray this is the answer for our beloved park! _________________ vacation!!!! reading, and loving clp! |

I'd love to see the Big Dipper saved as well but CLP already has a classic out and back coaster. Would it help much from a marketing perspective? Most larger parks wouldn't bother putting two coasters of similar in style in their parks.
I think the Double Loop would actually be a better option from a marketing perspective. It's a decent ride for an old looper but I'm not sure of its availability. That's the loop DelGrosso's Amusement Park is going with their Revolution coaster. But it may be worth more as scrap. I think the perfect option would be the Laser from Dorney Park which appears to be on its way out. It's a great, portable looper that can fit into a smaller plot of land. _________________ --Tim |

The Double Loop and the Villin are two of the roughest coasters I've ever rode. It seems like the Villin got more rugh as the years went on. I feel sorry for any park that buys them, unless they can fix them up. _________________ myself, AKA andy_e219
